Overview

The southern tourist destination of Armenia begins with the Khor Virap - Areni route. During the tour, beautiful views, rich historical and cultural heritage and tasting of wonderful wines await you.
The first stop is the Khor Virap Monastery in Ararat province, after which the route reaches Vayots Dzor province, which is known for its developed winemaking and rich historical and cultural heritage. The tour gives you the opportunity to visit a local winery and taste wines made from endemic grape varieties. To get to know Armenian culture better, you can take part in a master class of khachkar making.
The tour program may also include Jermuk health resort town or Yeghegis historical village.

Khor Virap Monastery / Khor Virap means "deep dungeon". Don't miss the pit where Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned in 287-301 by King Tiridates III of Armenia. From the monastery you can enjoy a beautiful view of the biblical Mount Ararat
Areni-1 Cave / The Areni-1 is a cave complex where was found 5,500-year-old earliest known leather shoe, 6100-year-old earliest known winery in the world

Noravank Monastery / Noravank means "new monastery". 13th-century fantastic monastery complex is set on a hill surrounded by red rocks
Khachkar making master class / Khachkar is a stele on which a cross is carved. This type of art is Armenian and is included in the UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. At the end of the master class you will receive a khachkar you carved as a gift.
