Overview

Lori region is very rich in sights and has several tourist destinations. One of them is the Haghpat-Sanahin destination, which is perhaps the most attractive and most visited.
It is noteworthy that the settlements and historic-cultural sights here are located on plateaus, and from there you can admire the views of the gorge of Debed River for hours. The depth of the gorge is 250-350 meters and here is the lowest point of Armenia, at an altitude of 375 meters above sea level.
Many tourists visiting Georgia are attracted by this direction and they often include it in their tour program.

Sanahin Monastery / Sanahin Monastery was founded in the 10th century and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the 10-11 centuries it was the most important spiritual, cultural and scientific center. The monastery had a rich library and it was taught humanities, music and medicine there

Haghpat Monastery / Haghpat is a medieval monastery complex built in the 10th - 13th centuries. It represent the highest flowering of Armenian religious architecture. There are also a number of splendid khachkars (cross-stones) of the 11th-13th centuries. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Akhtala Fortress /
Akhtala monastery / The monastery dating from 10th century is famous for retaining original frescoes with a lot of colour in them. The monastery is protected by the walls of an ancient castle. The location is great with a perfect view over a gorge and mountains
